We would like to thank everyone who helped make the Burren Winterage Weekend 2019 a huge success. From conferences to art workshops and farm mart discussions to herdsman’s walks, we were delighted with the wonderful support, participation and interest of local and visiting community members. The Burren Winterage School offered a fantastic opportunity to share and learn ideas and stories from across Ireland and different parts of Europe, on how we can best farm with nature so as to protect our natural heritage under threat. The weekend culminated with the Community Cattle Drive on a gloriously sunny afternoon on Sunday 27th of October. Close to five hundred supporters joined Burren farmer Aoife Forde and her parents Fiona and P.J to herd their cattle up to their winter pastures. To all our volunteers, supporters, members, walk leaders, farmers, business friends, funders, event participants, workshop leaders – thank you for your skills and time! This community event could not have taken place without your goodwill and enthusiasm. Thanks also to all those who contacted us to wish us well for the weekend although you couldn’t be there yourselves – support to the Burrenbeo Trust comes in so many ways, so thank you too!
