Burrenbeo is very grateful to all our supporters. As an independent charity with no core funding, your support is essential to our existence.
Our Funding
Our funding comes from:
- Grants from statutory bodies and charitable foundations (2020: 20%). In 2020 we applied for 20 different grants. We were successful with 10 applications. Grants ranged from €400-€16,000.
- Membership (2020: 20%). Membership fees in 2020 brought in one fifth of the necessary income to fund the organisation’s programmes.
- Events (2020: 10%). Burrenbeo Trust runs various events through the year that have an entry cost such as walks, talks, Winterage Weekend, Burren in Bloom etc. These all raise necessary funds for the Trust but unfortunately many were cancelled or held online thus resulting in a reduced income for 2020.
- Donations (2020: 23%). Various individuals or businesses have very generously supported the Trust in 2020 and donations are the highest this year since the beginning of the Trust.
- Training and education courses (2020: 25%). Burrenbeo Trust held a symposium on place-based learning, and a training course for teachers bringing place-based education to the classroom. This year the Trust is also running biodiversity training funded through GRD which will continue into 2021 providing extra training for local communities.
- Merchandise (2020: 2%). The sale of Burrenbeo field guides through local businesses and the sale of Field Guides, Burren cards, Burren Insight magazines and our Áitbheo tool kits through our online shop found on our website.
A massive thank you to all our members and friends that have been part of this journey.
