Our Supporters
Burrenbeo is very grateful to all our supporters. As an independent charity with no core funding, your support is essential to our existence.
Our Funding
Our funding comes from:
- Grants from statutory bodies (2023: 62%). In 2023 we applied for 16 different grants. We were successful with 12 applications. Grants ranged from €1,000 to €100,000.
- Programme Sponsorship (2023: 20%) – includes income from charitable foundations or commercial funders for specific programmes.
- Donations and Fundraising (2023: 7%). This includes income from our Burren Pine Project which helps restore a ‘lost’ native species in the Burren . Various businesses or individuals also gave general donations to the Trust during 2023.
- Membership (2023: 6.5%). Membership fees continue to be an important and steady income stream for Burrenbeo Trust.
- Events income, Education courses and Merchandise sales (2023: 4.5%). Burrenbeo Trust holds training courses for teachers bringing place-based education to the classroom. This income also includes revenue generated from the sale of event tickets and Burrenbeo merchandise.
A full and complete audit of the 2022 accounts are available on our website here . Our fully audited 2023 accounts are due to be put on our website once they have been completed during the summer of 2024.
A massive thank you to all our members and friends that have been part of this journey.
So who exactly has been involved?
Volunteers Members Benefactors Business Friends
Corporate Partners Grant Agencies
Since its inception, Burrenbeo Trust has undertaken numerous events and activities which have involved a great deal of voluntary input and payment in kind. From guiding informative heritage walks, coordinating volunteer events, helping provide information at events, providing venues, delivering educational workshops…the list is endless! Since its inception, each year, we estimate between €130,000-€150,000 has been donated to the Burrenbeo Trust in professional time! This excludes the work of the Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers. This is an extraordinary contribution by any standard. A massive thank you to all of you that have contributed in the past.
Volunteers
We estimate that for every € that is given to the Trust at least another € is donated in kind to the organisation in professional time!
Burrenbeo Trust has run several events and activities throughout 2023 and without voluntary input to help run these events smoothly and payment in kind from some of our experts and event leaders, we would not have been able to achieve so much on our limited budget. Our volunteers have as always been completely amazing covering various roles from guiding walks, to signing people in at events, first aid support to making tea and coffee, caring for pine woodland sites to helping set up venues – generally carrying out all those essential tasks that are rarely recognised but absolutely vital for events to
run smoothly. This year, we estimate that over €30,000* has been given to the Burrenbeo Trust in voluntary hours which is a huge voluntary input into the Trust and demonstrates the vast amount of support that we receive from our Burrenbeo Trust community. It’s nearly impossible for us to convey the gratitude that we feel to all those who have helped us out so a huge thank-you to all of you – you know who you are.
If you’ve been too busy to help out this year don’t worry – we appreciate that you are thinking of us and there will plenty of other chances to help out in the coming year.
*Note the above estimate excludes the work of the Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers.
If you have any ideas on how you can contribute in kind to the organisation please contact [email protected] Everyone has something to offer.
If you would like to get involved in active conservation volunteering out in the Burren then please see here for our thriving Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteer group.
