Learning Landscape Feasibility Study

events-heroIn 2013 with the support of Clare Local Development Company, Burrenbeo Trust conducted a Learning Landscape Feasibility Study to highlight the potential of the Burren as a learning landscape, both from an educational and an economic point of view.  This report offers an insightful and useful springboard from which we can begin to devise a plan to ensure sustainable management of this unique natural landscape for future generations. The Burren’s inimitable landscape offers the perfect learning experience, exemplified through its physical environment, cultural heritage, history and community. It can provide many opportunities to grow and greater possibilities to learn valuable lessons, which can be shared the world over. Burrenbeo Trust have used this study to intrinsically inform and develop our programmes to ensure best practice techniques, along with demonstrable and informed knowledge which we share to wider audiences. Each year we build upon this study, through continuously engaging with research and hosting our annual ‘Learning Landscape Symposium’ which plays host to experts in this area from all over the world. These delegates come to the Burren for a weekend to share their ideas, but also to learn from our experiences as Ireland’s only landscape charity – leading the way in place-based educational practices.
