Groups with disabilities

The Burren landscape and its wondrous heritage should be available for everyone to experience in spite of any challenges they may have.  Since 2014, Burrenbeo Trust have been carrying out the annual Walk with a Difference in association with the Irish Wheelchair Association, sensory walks in association with the National Council for the Blind, and various walks for groups with autism etc.

We truly believe that the Burren should be accessible to all to experience in its full glory.

A True Learning Landscape

We are here to support any group planning to visit the Burren.  Our objective is to enhance your learning experience while in the Burren to help you and your group thoroughly engage with Ireland’s leading Learning Landscape.

What can we offer:P1060824 copy

  • An introductory lecture to Burren.
  • A field orientation session using sensory learning on the Burren giving a good overview of the natural and built heritage of the region.
  • Additional support services organised from specific experts if required.

Tailor made

We can tailor your trip relative to the needs of the group.  For more information please email our team on info@burrenbeo.com or phone 091 638096.

Sensory Learning

Very often people want to explore a deeper connection with where they are. The  Burren is a very good place to do this as it has incredible layers to the landscape – obvious geology, incredible archaeology, biodiversity, culture and more. We all have one or two dominant senses but by engaging with as many of our senses as possible, we are able to get a fuller picture of the landscape and its layers.  We can incorporate a sensory learning element into your visit if required.

What people said

I never thought I would be able to access the Burren, with the help of Burrenbeo Trust, I was able to experience it more than any outdoor countryside place ever before. Wheelchair user, 2014

I couldn’t imagine how I could participate in going out into the Burren but I was up for taking part.   I did and I learn so much. Visually impaired individual, 2015
