meet @1.30pm on Sun 5th March 2017
Kilnaboy School to carpool to start point (OS51R 277 918).
Our March walk will visit one of the Burren’s highest concentrations of monuments. Ros has been working on excavations in the region and has a wealth of knowledge to share. Ros completed his PhD thesis at NUIG in 2014, under the supervision of Dr Carleton Jones. It was entitled ‘Exchange in Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age Ireland: Connecting people, objects and ideas’. Ros is particularly interested in prehistoric exchange, ritual, violence, social organisation, social change, and ontologies (world views).
The meeting point at Kilnaboy School (OS51R 277 918) is marked on a google map here. We will meet at 1.30pm to organise carpooling, leave at 1.45pm and the walk will start at 2pm. This is a walk which will require a reasonable level of fitness. You will need good walking boots or shoes, warm waterproof clothes, hats gloves etc.
The walk is open to everyone. However, it is free for Burrenbeo Trust Members and a donation of €10 is suggested from non-members. In case of bad weather which may affect the walk please check our website or Facebook page for the latest updates. For more information please email [email protected] or phone 091 638096.
