Burrenbeo members are invited to a slow ramble with botanist Sinéad Keane through a mixed Burren Habitat.The aim of this walk will be to appreciate the rich diversity of our native Burren flora with an emphasis on the past and present medicinal uses.
Sinéad has an M.Sc in Botany with a special emphasis on vegetation and land use in the Burren. She also holds a B.Sc. in Phytotherapy from the University of Wales. She has worked as a consultant ecologist for the NPWS for many years, and is a Heritage in Schools expert. A very experienced wildlife guide, Sinéad has a particular interest in photographing Burren flowers and images can be seen on Instagram @burren_botanist
Start: The start location for the walk will be sent to members in the week before the walk.
Suitable footwear, such as waterproof walking boots and appropriate clothing for possible wet, blustery weather, are required. If you have hand lenses or magnifying glasses do carry them. Please ensure you read the walk risk assessment before attending. You will be asked to indicate that you have read this when signing in on the day. The walk risk assessment can be viewed here.
