Burrenbeo Trust are heading East! On this our 10th year, we are holding a series of Burren talks in Dublin, bringing the wonders of this place and the work of Burrenbeo Trust to a wider audience, while also bringing the Burren a little closer for our many Dublin based members.
On the 1st November at 8pm in the National Botanic Gardens, the second talk in the series will be ‘Lives, legacies and legends of the Burren – traveling in time with a field archaeologist’ with Ros O’Maolduin
Ros completed his PhD thesis at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) in 2014, under the supervision of Dr Carleton Jones. It was entitled ‘Exchange in Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age Ireland: Connecting people, objects and ideas’. Ros is particularly interested in prehistoric exchange, ritual, violence, social organisation, social change, and ontologies (world views). Ros has directed and worked on numerous archaeological excavations in Ireland, Britain, France, Italy, Romania and Lesotho. While undertaking his PhD, at NUI Galway, Ros was head tutor for 1st year undergraduates and he regularly lectures to students at other levels. He has presented at major international conferences and published several papers and book chapters. Ros is Director of the Irish Fieldschool for Prehistoric Archaeology and is currently working on a number of excavations around the Burren.
The talks are being hosted by the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland. We are very grateful to Mark Rutledge for the initial idea and for his help making this happen.
