The Burrenbeo Trust had a fantastic National Heritage Week 2018 from 18th to 26th August! On Wednesday the sun came out to play for our Burren Wild Child event in Carron, the heart of the Burren. In keeping with the Heritage Week theme, ‘Share A Story, Make a Connection’, an enthusiastic bunch of young investigators measured grykes, hunted mini-beasts, played Burren Bingo and scavenged for clues to help them understand the story of this wonderful place. Our Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers (BCV) Open Day took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan on Saturday. After hearing some conservation stories from the BCV committee we were ready for action! We headed for the hills to cut back overgrowth on a nature trail where we enjoyed glorious views of the Burren as well as some quirky musical and architectural features. Later we learned how to monitor butterflies by walking a transect. The weather was gorgeous, the chat was mighty and we finished it all off with a scrumptious barbecue! Huge thanks to the Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers committee, Burren College of Art and to everyone who came along on the day. If you would like to join the BCVs, please click here.
