The volunteers work on a number of projects and have many more in sight in order to make a valuable impact. Main projects include:

Dry Stone Walling

There are hundreds of miles of dry stone walls in the Burren. These are both functional and of massive cultural heritage importance.

The Burren has a higher density of archaeology than anywhere else in Ireland – this has to be both recorded and preserve into the future.

Scrub management

Hazel scrub is having major effect on both the biodiversity and the archaeology of the region, it is a major conservation issue.

The Burren has the more butterflies and other pollinators than anywhere else in Ireland, by identifying what exists helps how it can be conserved into the future.

High tourism level and others challenges are having an impact on the landscape, the volunteers are working to do something about it.

If so, why not join the fun and enthusiastic team of conservation volunteers, share your passion for the Burren with others and make a huge difference to the biodiversity and maintenance of this unique landscape. Becoming a volunteer offers you an opportunity to build skills, knowledge about place and indeed, lasting friendships.

This is an active group of conservation volunteers that have been working in areas of archaeology conservation, rare species monitoring, managing scrub encroachment and much more since 2010. We have 1-2 events a month.
