A walk at Dysert O’Dea castle and Romanesque church with Dick Cronin
Start: The start location for the walk will be sent to members who book a place for the walk. Booking link is emailed to members.
Join us for a walk at the authentically restored 15th century Dysert O’Dea castle, the stronghold of the O’Dea clan. The walk will also take in the nearby 12th century high cross – one of the finest examples of its kind in Ireland and the Dysert O’Dea Church with its famous Romanesque doorway.
This walk will be guided by Dick Cronin who worked as the Architectural Conservation Officer with Clare County Council where he was responsible for the built heritage of the county including historic buildings, vernacular houses, protected structures and architectural conservation areas in towns and villages.
Suitable footwear, such as waterproof walking boots and appropriate clothing for possible wet, blustery weather, are required. Please ensure you read the walk risk assessment before attending. You will be asked to indicate that you have read this when signing in on the day. The walk risk assessment can be viewed here.
