‘Nature as a partner – changing attitudes to nature and landscape’ with Matthijs Schouten

Registration link

Burren in Bloom 2022 will  host an online talk on the evening of Thursday 19th of May on the topic of ‘Nature as a partner – changing attitudes to nature and landscape’ with Matthijs Schouten

Matthijs Schouten came to Ireland to study peatlands in 1978. Shocked by the commercial development on the Irish bogs, he returned home and campaigned to raise money to buy and save three of them. He also helped prompt the setting-up of the Irish Peatland Conservation Council. Matthijs has studied biology, Celtic language and Literature, Religious Sciences and Oriental philosophy. He has been working at Staatsbosheer since 1992 as an ecologist and philosopher and at UCC as Adjunct Professor in Ecology.

Attendance is free but registration is essential at the link above.

Go to our burreninbloom.com page for the booking link and information on all the in-person events for Burren in Bloom from Fri 20th May – Sunday 22nd May.

This talk is organised by Burrenbeo Trust – an independent landscape charity with no core funding. We work hard to sustain out 25 plus programmes throughout the year. Please do consider supporting us through donations or membership at www.burrenbeo.com
