‘The recent works at Templecronan and its surrounding archaeology’ with Elaine Lynch
This presentation will discuss the recent works at Templecronan which involved the dismantling of the north-east drystone boundary wall which was done with the assistance of the Burren Conservation Volunteers. A new drystone wall was erected by a professional local wall builder a few meters to the north-east, thereby incorporating the 7th century shrine (CL010-021011-) inside the new boundary of the church and graveyard. This work was significant to the future preservation of the shrine. The presentation will also discuss the church and the surrounding associated archaeology.
Elaine Lynch is a licensed archaeologist who has been working on commercial and research excavations for almost 15 years. She specialises in prehistoric pottery. She is currently involved with the Field Monument Advisor project in its work with the Burren Programme.
