Seashore Bird Walk with John Murphy
Join us for Burrenbeo’s monthly members’ walk with ornithologist John Murphy to explore the variety of bird life that can be found on our coastline at this time of the year including sea birds, waders, divers, migratory and overwintering birds.
John is a qualified bird ringer with the British Trust for Ornithology since 1984, a certified JNCC Seabird Surveyor, founder of the Loop Head Bird Observatory (www.loopheadbo.com), founder of the Clare Branch Birdwatch Ireland (www.clarebirdwatching.com), a wildlife photographer, filmmaker (www.waxwingfilms.com), a freelance tour guide and course leader. You can also follow his blogsite at – www.murfswildlife.blogspot.ie
Start: The start location for the walk will be sent to members in the week before the walk.
We will be walking along uneven coastal area exposed to wet and windy weather so good walking boots and warm waterproof clothing is essential. Also if you own a pair of good binoculars, this is the time to bring them along!
Please ensure you read the walk risk assessment before attending. You will be asked to indicate that you have read this when signing in on the day. The walk risk assessment can be viewed here. Please also bear in mind that ticks are common across the Burren and there have been reported cases of Lyme Disease in this area. For more information on Lyme Disease follow this link.
The walks are for Trust members only. Sign up for Burrenbeo Trust membership at www.burrenbeo.com.
