Bookings are now open for this year’s Burren Winterage Weekend events. Majority of the events, including the Community Cattle Drive, Burren Food Fayre, farm habitats and archaeology walks, talks, heritage breeds display and a photography exhibition on global transhumance will take place on a beautiful Burren farm and its farm buildings in Tullycommon, near Carran village. We are delighted to partner with the National Parks and Wildlife Service who are now managing this farm and will have a herd of Irish Moiled cattle that will be herded on the day of the cattle drive to their winterage pastures. Other significant events on this weekend will include ‘Making Space for Nature’ walk and panel discussion at the Common Knowledge Centre in Kilfenora hosted by broadcaster Anja Murray, Farming for Nature gathering and awards ceremony as well as a ‘Winterage Session’ of music, poetry and dance at Kinvara Community Centre, and traditional cheese and butter making workshops at Tubber village hall. While some events are free and open to all, others are ticketed and require advance booking. This year the Burren Winterage Weekend is supported by The National Parks and Wildlife Service, The Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine, Creative Ireland and the FBD Trust.
