Eco-Beo
For nearly ten years Burrenbeo has been working with young residents from communities across the Burren, delivering a unique heritage learning programme called ‘Eco Beo’. Eco-Beo is the only course of its type in Ireland and opens up the Burren’s vast and varied heritage to primary school students, giving them and their parents and teachers a unique insight into the Burren's world famous karst landscape. So far, Burrenbeo has graduated over 700 young Burren experts. These future guardians of the Burren have successfully completed an intensive 20-week course delivered within school term. Following completion of Eco-Beo, the children are well able to interpret, communicate and potentially protect the heritage of their special home- The Burren
Eco-Beo – Investing in a local learning experience
2012 will see a record number of children undertake the Eco-Beo Course. These courses are made possible with a mix of funding from individuals, national awards and individual school fundraising. Regardless of funding these programmes could not be delivered without the incredible passion for education and deep dedication to the Burren that individual Burrenbeo volunteers and their supporters display.
